New Rental Item Available: Hanna Multiparameter Water Quality Meter

Milco Safety Rental has recently added the Hanna Multiparameter Water Quality Meter to its rental fleet of YSIs and Horiba U-22 units. While we have had great success, particularly with the YSI 600XL, the Hanna Model 9828 has been added in an effort to expand our offering. The Hanna 9828 performs the same testing parameters as the 600XL. In fact, the units are very similar in appearance. With the Hanna 9828 you can view the pH, temp, conductivity, D.O., ORP, TDS and salinity on the same screen. The Hanna flow thru cell has been improved. It is study enough to allow the probe guard to remain on the probe, protecting probe sensors. Users have reported that this unit works very well. Consider it the next time you are taking water quality readings.

Practical Ways to Save on Shipping While Managing Increasing Fuel Costs

It’s no secret. Fuel costs have risen tremendously and everyone is affected. At Milco Safety Rental, we see this increase with every shipment we make. To help our customers control shipping costs, we ship rental instruments on a second day basis and start the rental on a designated date. This saves a significant amount of money on shipping costs over time. We often have customers who need to start a job on Monday morning. To meet this need, we will ship the unit on Wednesday to arrive on Friday afternoon (second day shipment) with the rental starting on Monday. We simply ask customers to place orders with enough advance notice. Of course, we will ship next-day-priority when needed. But please note, shipping costs for next-day orders cost considerably more than second day.

Important Reminder For Transporting Calibration Gases

Calibration gases are often required on a job site for such instruments as P.I.D.s or confined spaced monitors. Compressed air and other compressed gases are considered hazardous shipments and must be shipped in compliance with specific rules. Transportation costs for hazardous shipments are quite costly, so if calibration gas is required at a job site it is suggested that a calibration cylinder be kept on site in a secure area for the next site visit. Another option is to take the cylinder to the office so that it can be used again, or simply empty and discard the cylinder. DO NOT return the cylinder to Milco Safety Rental because return fees are not cost effective. In addition, the forms and procedures needed to properly complete the regulatory paperwork will not be available. Shipment of hazardous goods is strictly governed by federal law. Remember, hazardous gases, even compressed air, cannot be transported by commercial airlines. DO NOT carry a gas cylinder in your baggage when flying.
